Salt Lake 5K

This year I set two New Year's resolutions. I am proud to say I am doing great. One goal was to participate in the Salt Lake 5K. Notice I said "participate". Due to having a c-section I couldn't start working out until February. Then I got bronchitis and Parker was in the hospital. Excuses, excuses, I know. I was much, much slower than the last time I did this race but that is okay. At least I did it.

Here are a some of the people I met up with for the race. Wendy, Rachael, Carrie Ann, Me, Jillian

Easter Egg Hunt

This year we went to the Herriman Easter Egg Hunt. We had a good time. It was fun to see friends there. We were so happy to have cousin Sydney come with us, too. I was surprised to see that there were about a dozen stuffed animals in each section of the hunt.

Before the hunt we had fun playing at the park.

In addition to finding eggs they also had a section that was filled with Easter grass and the kids had one minute to find treats in there. They also had Little Caesar's Pizza for everyone.

Cotton Ball Sheep

Hayden had a good time making a sheep last week. I printed out an outline of a sheep then he dipped cotton balls in glue and stuck them on the sheep. It turned out really cute and best of all there was no mess.

Easter Treats

I made chocolate bowls again. This time I filled them with green coconut for grass, a Peep, and eggs (Oreo truffles).

Zoo

I love having a zoo membership. We have had it since October and have been several times already. Now that the weather is getting nice I look forward to going even more often.

My sister Rebecca, her girls, Riley and Brea and their cousin Aubrey went with us. Aubrey is ten and was so cute with Hayden. I told Rebecca I think I would like to always have a ten year old around to help.

Asleep

I love to see Joe cuddling Parker. They get so snugly they can just fall asleep together.

Easter Activities

We had a great time at the Young's yesterday. While Joe and his dad were at Priesthood, the littles had an Easter Egg hunt. Hayden liked finding the eggs but when Eliza dropped one and he saw there was candy inside he wanted to open them all. As soon as he found his eggs he sat down and started munching. He LOVES jelly beans. He was a sticky mess.

Hayden also got to dye a dozen eggs. he picked out the colors and carefully put the egg on the spoon and stirred his egg. He had fun painting an egg too. Grandma is very brave to left five little children dye eggs at her house.

Here are the cousins (minus Sydney-we missed you, Sydney) with their loot.
I think it is funny that Hayden has on an undershirt and no pants in these pictures.

Baseball

A few weeks ago Hayden got a fun t-ball set just like his friend James. He had such a good time playing ball at James' house that Mommy decided Hayden could have one at his house. Hayden is still learning how to make contact just with the ball and not the T. You will often hear him say, "Hit the ball, not the T." I wonder where he learned that phrase?

If you look in the background of the picture you will see Hayden's slide. I guess when you live in Utah and winter seems to last forever you have to bring the fun indoors.

Parker Update

Parker is doing so much better. Here he is in the hospital having his breathing treatment. I love his dinosaur mask.

Even though he is getting better he still isn't completely healthy yet. I took him back to the pediatrician this week because of his cough. In the middle of the night he coughs so hard that his entire body shakes and he starts to gag/choke. He then starts to cry but somehow stays asleep. Mom on the other hand cannot sleep because it is rather scary. The doctor said his lungs sound clear if you can listen past the congestion. They did give us another prescription for the suction clinic so we have been doing that again every night before bed. When I was talking the the respiratory therapist (same one who sent us to the ER and then by ambulance to PCMC) the other night expressing my concern/frustration he said, "You have to understand he was very very sick. It is going to take a long time for him to get better."

Even though he still sounds so yucky he is acting happier every day. He is really starting to enjoy looking at the toys on his play gym and occasionally tries to get them.

Grandma Great

We have the best Grandma in the whole world. She loves the great grand kids so much. We are so lucky to get to see her so often (almost every week).
The shirt she is wearing is so fitting. It says, "If I had known grand kids were so much fun I'd have had them first."

Exhausted

Potty Training

I have taken the plunge and have started potty training Hayden. He has done surprisingly well so far. (That does not mean we have not had our fair share of accidents on a daily basis).

I was planning on getting Hayden a tricycle for Easter. Last week we were taking about going potty and I said, "If you would just go potty on the toilet I would buy you the red bike." He immediately started asking to go potty on the toilet so he could have a red bike. So after a few days of him talking about his red bike I put him on the potty and to my surprise he went potty.

Yesterday my dad told Hayden if he cleaned the office he could have a dollar. Hayden cleaned up and got his dollar. When I asked what he was going to buy he told me he was going to buy a red bike at the store.

This morning I told him if he went potty before we went to work he could go buy his red bike. He was happy to comply. Which means that Hayden is now the proud owner of a Radio Flyer tricycle.

Spoiled

Tuesday, Joe and I participated in a session at the Draper temple. We were supposed to be there at 6:30 to attend the 7:00 session. Due to feeding Parker we were running a bit late. It took right about 30 minutes to get to the temple. It felt like forever. I thought to myself that I was glad to be going and seeing the new temple but this would probably be the only time we go to that temple. It is just too far away. Then I started thinking about how spoiled I have been my entire life. I grew up less than two miles away from the Jordan River Temple. When I was in Young Women I walked to the temple. It now takes me about 15 minutes to get to the Jordan River Temple and the Oquirrh Mountain Temple is half way between my and the Jordan River Temple.

I guess it is a good thing I live where I do instead of somewhere that I would have to travel hours and hours to get to the temple.

Cookies

The other day my friend told me she was making cookies. When I got home late that night I saw cookies on my front porch. It was too late to call and say thanks. The next day I left home early and was gone all day. On my way home that evening I called her and told her thanks for the cookies. She said, "What cookies?" I responded, "You didn't leave cookies on my door step." "Nope."

I have no idea who dropped off cookies at my house. But whoever you are, thank you so much. They were tasty. Hayden and I had fun sharing cookies late at night while sitting on the kitchen floor.
